Russia, and as someone of Russian heritage I feel comfortable saying this, is a very unique and different country, and its people have been formed by its at times heroic and at other times tragic history, by its geography, its great minds and its political culture. You cannot apply a western template to understanding Russia, so we embarked on this project with as open minds as possible.
